booksOur low Reynolds number airfoil and propeller data in various formats is included below. The UIUC test program relies in part on the generosity of many individuals. If you would like our work to continue, please send a donation. The odds of successfully supporting university research through donations like this were thought to be slim, but it seems to be working (we'll keep our fingers crossed). Your tax deductible donations can be mailed to

Please make your check payable to "University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign" and write "UIUC/Aerospace LSATs (Selig)" in the memo line. The latter step (memo line comment) is important because otherwise it go to the general UIUC Foundation Fund (not Aerospace).

Note that as of March 29, 1998, the airfoil performance data published in Vols 1-2 was replaced with the data linked above. As described in Vol 3 (p 5), refinements (more mathematics) were made to the data reduction process, and these were used during the production of Vol 3. These improvements were subsequently applied to Vols 1-2. Any further improvements to the data reduction process will be reported here.

GPL'd Data: The airfoil performance data is copyrighted, and restrictions are placed on its use. The data may be freely copied and used in any way, e.g., for personal use, in magazine articles or with a commercial product. If the data is used in a magazine article or book, the author must reference the appropriate volume of Summary of Low-Speed Airfoil Data and give the address of where it can be obtained. If the data is used in a commercial product, there must be no extra charges for providing it - other than the cost of reproduction and distribution. All products that make use of this data must conspicuously state that it was produced under the UIUC Low-Speed Airfoil Test program, and no restrictions can be placed on the recipient with respect to their use of the source data. Furthermore, they must be allowed to copy the original data and freely distribute it as well. It is in this sense that all access to this data is free. More details can be found in the general public license (GPL). A copy of the license, the copyright notice and the UIUC Low-Speed Airfoil Tests Manifesto (manifest.html) must be included with each distribution of the data.

SoarTech 8 (Princeton Tests): Tabulated data for airfoils in SoarTech 8 is available from SoarTech Aero here.
